The Kremlin said Monday that Russia’s offer to accept Iran’s enriched uranium as part of a potential deal with the United States is still on the table, according to reports.
“This proposal was voiced by President Putin in contacts with both the United States and regional states. The offer still stands, but it has not been acted upon,” Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said, according to Russia’s state-owned RIA Novosti news agency.
Iran’s stockpile of enriched uranium has been a central point of concern in nuclear negotiations between the U.S. and Iran and remains a key issue for the Trump administration.
Peskov also said Russia was ready to provide support for efforts to de-escalate the war in Iran.
